Are you passionate about conducting thorough assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of children at risk of harm? Do you have experience in child protection and a commitment to safeguarding vulnerable children and families? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Children Assessment Team (CAT) at Lambeth Council.

As a Social Worker in our CAT team, you will play a crucial role in assessing and managing risks to children, ensuring timely interventions and appropriate support services are provided to families in need. Working collaboratively with internal and external partners, you will help to create safe and nurturing environments for children to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families referred to the team, identifying risks and protective factors.
  • Develop and implement child protection plans in collaboration with children, families, carers, and other professionals, ensuring they are responsive to the individual needs of each child.
  • Provide direct support and intervention to children and families at risk of harm, working to reduce risks and promote positive outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with social work teams, schools, health professionals, and other agencies to coordinate holistic support services for children and families.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child protection.

Requirements:

  • Relevant social work qualification (Social Work England).
  • Experience in child protection or working with children and families at risk of harm.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, carers, and professionals.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practices in child protection.
  • Commitment to promoting the rights and well-being of children and young people.
