We are seeking an Assistant Farm Manager to work closely supporting the Farm Manager of a large estate in the beautiful Wiltshire/Berkshire countryside. You will assist in the day to day running and operation of a mixed farm enterprise, implementing a crop rotation of OSR, wheat, barley and beans complemented by a herd of suckler cows. You will use your proven knowledge to actively support the Farm Manager, ensuring the efficiency and productivity of the farm is maintained. Eager to learn and develop, you will welcome new challenges with enthusiasm whilst demonstrating an adaptable and hands-on approach. Role Responsibilities:
To assist in the planning, organisation and delivery of farm activities and field work including drilling, spraying, cultivations, irrigation, and combining
To work closely with the Farm Manager managing the crop rotations, soil fertility, and crop quality
To maintain accurate farm records and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
To assist the Farm Manager in budget preparation and financial management
To work with a dedicated team, providing supervision and guidance when required
To undertake basic stockmanship duties and tractor work when required
Skills you will need:
Essential:
Proven knowledge and understanding of farming practices
Experience in crop management and field operations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Organised with the capacity to think proactively and problem solve
PA1, PA2 and telehandler qualified
A familiarity and understanding of health and safety principles and compliance
The ability to lead and/or manage a team, providing hands-on support where required
A team player with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Dedicated and reliable with a desire to learn and develop within the role
A full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Livestock experience
