Overview:

Nestled within the breathtaking area of outstanding natural beauty, our Sedbergh country house proudly boasts 25 elegantly appointed bedrooms, providing a serene retreat for up to 45 guests embarking on guided or self-guided tour holidays. We have an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic and skilled Country House Manager to become an integral part of our team at the enchanting Sedbergh country house.


About the role:

As the Country House Manager, your role revolves around delivering an exceptional standard of customer service, ensuring every facet of the house operates at the pinnacle of excellence. Your responsibilities span various domains:

  • Customer Service Excellence: Elevate guest experiences by meticulously overseeing every aspect of customer service, leaving no room for compromise on our commitment to excellence.
  • Culinary Management: Take charge of the culinary experience, managing chefs to consistently deliver exceptional food quality within the established budgetary framework for the house.
  • Front of House Leadership: Lead the front of house team, ensuring pristine conditions in all bedrooms and public areas that not only meet but exceed our brand standards.
  • Property Maintenance and Aesthetics: Collaborate with the Maintenance Person, properties team, and suppliers to monitor, report, and address internal and external repairs and property defects. Uphold the immaculate appearance of the garden, grounds, and overall Country House aesthetics to align with brand standards.
  • Team Culture Development: Given a significant portion of our staff live in, you will foster a culture of teamwork and harmony, recognising the crucial role it plays in the overall success of our house
  • Centralised Support: Leverage the support of our central Human Resources team for recruitment, performance management, and conduct-related matters. Similarly, work with the central support operations team for the implementation and upkeep of all facets of Health and Safety, purchasing, stock management control, and reporting.

As a General Manager your role encapsulates not just management but a commitment to creating an environment where every detail reflects the excellence and unity that defines our brand. What are we looking for?

  • We are seeking an individual with a robust commercial background in the Tourism or Hospitality industry. We are keen to hear from Hotel Managers, Country House Managers, Hotel General Managers or Hospitality Managers, who can showcase a track record of successful management within a hotel, country house, or similar establishment.
  • If you possess traits such as natural outgoingness, sociability, exemplary customer service skills, and excel as a team leader, we welcome your application. We value individuals who bring not just managerial prowess but a genuine passion for delivering unparalleled guest experiences.
  • Given the nature of our industry, flexibility is key. The role necessitates adaptability to varied working hours, particularly during evenings and weekends
