They have some very large data centre clients across the UK and the Europe and they are now seeking a Project Director to work on a large project in Yorkshire. They are passionate about making a difference. That means delivering better outcomes for their clients, helping their people to realise their potential, and doing their part to create a green, inclusive and productive world where opportunities are open to all.They offer independent advice, transforming performance to safeguard the commercial interests of their clients embarking on investment programmes across real estate, infrastructure and natural resources. They are investing heavily into bespoke technology and are ahead of the curve with digital innovation. They are now seeking a Project Director to join their Project Management team in Yorkshire to lead and grow their Data Centre team on a major local scheme. The RoleThis role sits on the regional senior leadership team and will be responsible for a team of 10 project managers.Main purpose of the role;
  • To lead and coordinate project activities, ensuring good communication and adherence to governance processes.
  • To understand, anticipate, inform and deliver great outcomes for their clients, every time, everywhere through your team.
  • To drive exceptional delivery, health & safety, commercial, risk management and quality performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • To develop a team of Project Management professionals with a strong pipeline of work across a range of sectors.
  • Lead the team and grow the business unit by attracting talent and delivering great work for a very busy set of clients. Have string input on bids and help win new clients.
Key accountabilities;
  • Helping to establish the overall success criteria for the project, including time, cost, technical and performance parameters. Through your team.
  • Establishing effective project governance, processes and systems to be utilised throughout the project.
  • Overseeing project planning, including producing the detailed project plan.
  • Over seeing the procurement of resource on a project 
  • Leading and facilitating the overall cross-functional project team.
  • Monitoring and applying performance management techniques.
  • Managing the change control process.
  • Monitoring and advising upon project finances.
  • Managing the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communications.
  • Preparing formal project progress and other reports.
  • Taking a leading role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages.
Business development to include;
  • Identifying opportunities to develop new business with new and existing clients.
  • Assisting in the production of bid documentation.
  • Financial management – Ensuring prompt client invoicing and utilising FMS in order to monitor a project’s financial status.
The CandidateThe ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a consultancy or data centre  environment and demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results.Desired experience includes;
  • Ideally a construction related degree or a similar construction related qualification with extensive technical delivery experience of large scale data centres.
  • Well organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal.
  • Must have construction experience and the right to work in the UK.
