Role overview:

The Global Category Manager (GCM),Logistics and Warehousing, is responsible for element of the spend, strategic plan and leadership selected initiatives within the Logistics and Warehousing Category. The scope of the GCM Logistics and Warehousing role includes responsibility for selected expenditure within the parameters of the role. Specifically, but not exhaustively, the GCM Logistics and Warehousing has responsibility for selected stakeholder and supplier engagement activities associated with Logistics and Warehousing. The GCM Logistics and Warehousing will support the development and deployment of the Logistics and Warehousing Category strategies. The GCM Logistics and Warehousing establishes and proactively manages key business stakeholder relationships, leads proactive sourcing projects, influences specification definition & demand management, as well as managing Category specific supplier performance and innovation activities. The GCM Logistics and Warehousing reports directly to the GCD Logistics and Warehousing

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing Procurement Category input into the Global Category Director in order to inform the functional objective setting process.
  • Accountable for the delivery of relevant Logistics and Warehousing Category targets following engagement in the target setting process.
  • Responsible for the collection of supplier, supply market, category and internal business data and information for elements of the Logistics and Warehousing Category
  • Responsible for supporting the development of the Global Category Strategy for Logistics and Warehousing, including relevant stakeholder approval.
  • Responsible for the communication of distribution of Category specific strategies to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Accountable for identifying key supplier risks within the Logistics and Warehousing Category and agreeing mitigating activities with the GCD and relevant business stakeholders.
  • Accountable for ensuring that any supplier performance risks and issues are resolved on a timely basis
  • Responsible for supporting the development and the execution of projects based on the Logistics and Warehousing Category strategy and business planning activities to feed into the Annual Procurement Category Plan
  • Responsible for supporting overall Logistics and Warehousing Category segmentation and identification of key supplier relationships.
  • Accountable for the implementation of consistent KPIs for the Logistics and Warehousing Category
  • Responsible for proactively managing the S&N innovation agenda with strategic suppliers within the Logistics and Warehousing Category, in line with S+N objectives
  • Accountable for ensuring that all activities delivered by Regional Implementation team members / GBS Procurement team members within the Logistics and Warehousing are in line with the overall Category strategy
  • Accountable for ensuring negotiated contracts are clearly communicated to business stakeholders for the Logistics and Warehousing Category, and that they are consistently applied.
  • Responsible for monitoring compliance and adherence to Smith & Nephew Procurement policies and procedures within the Logistics and Warehousing Category
  • Responsible for ensuring internal issues within the Logistics and Warehousing Category are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for engaging with and managing the performance of all relevant GBS Procurement resources supporting Category / Regional Procurement activities within the Logistics and Warehousing Category

Education / Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required at a minimum, in fields such as business administration, finance, law or a scientific or technical field. Strong preference for CIPS or similar professional qualification.
