Vision for Education are recruiting a Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) for one of their secondary schools in Blackburn, starting in September 2024.

Responsibilities of this Head of MFL role include:

  • To lead a team of staff in the delivery of the MFL Curriculum so that it engages, enthuses, motivates, and enables pupils to progress
  • Line management of departmental staff – foster an open and equitable culture and manage conflict (if applicable)
  • To collaboratively plan and prepare effective teaching schemes and lessons within the context of the school curriculum
  • To use regular assessments to set targets for pupils, monitor pupil progress towards individual targets and respond accordingly to the results of such monitoring.
  • To fully implement all school policies for creating a culture of high expectations
  • To maintain regular and productive communication with pupils, parents, and carers, to report on progress, sanctions, and rewards and all other communications

  • Teaching qualification with QTS / QTLS (essential)
  • Evidence of being, or having the potential to be, an outstanding leader
  • Knowledge of curriculum with a proven ability to differentiate effectively
  • Ability to establish and maintain high quality planning and recording
  • Good inter-personal, communication, planning, and organisational skills
